About Yamunotri

Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and the seat of the Goddess Yamuna in Hinduism. Located in the Uttarkashi district at an altitude of 3,293 meters, it is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and hot water springs. Pilgrims visit this sacred site to pay homage to the goddess and take a dip in the holy waters.

The temple opens on Akshaya Tritiya and closes on Yama Dwitiya. The natural hot springs at Yamunotri are a major attraction, where devotees cook rice and potatoes as an offering to the goddess. The journey to Yamunotri involves a moderate trek through picturesque mountain trails.
